Schedule your 3G cell upgrade
To help address the growing consumer demand for mobile services, cellular carriers plan to fully discontinue service on their 3G/GSM/CDMA networks throughout 2022. This will enable cellular carriers to free up valuable spectrum and provide increased speed and capacity for their more advanced technologies.
In other words, another batch of cell communicators are becoming obsolete in the coming months, and yours may be one of them. These devices are your connection to the central station if you don’t use a landline, internet or wi-fi for your connection. Your bill may include charges for “cell”. Schedule your replacement by clicking here if your cell was installed before 2019, of if we have notified you that you need this work done.
You can’t tell by looking at them which carrier they are using, and they have nothing to do with what carrier you use for your own cell phone that you carry around. Keep an eye on your keypad for trouble indicators, test your system regularly, and schedule your replacement as soon as is practical for you. It is best not to wait for signs of trouble.
While 3G and CDMA services will be extended through the respective end of life dates shown below, carriers are already reducing bandwidth for their 3G networks so 3G performance will be slowing as they repurpose those frequencies to LTE 4G & 5G. For optimal performance, we highly recommend transitioning to LTE today.
Carrier Specific 3G End of Life Dates:
AT&T - GSM: February 22, 2022
T-Mobile - GSM: July 1, 2022
Verizon - CDMA: December 31, 2022
Sprint - CDMA: April 1,2022
